Mahesh Agro-Chemicals had introduced a synthetic pyrethroid, "Borekill", in the 80s for controlling cotton boll-worms. Once sales of this product saturated, the company extended this chemical to tur pod borer in 1985 in the Bidar-Gulbarga belt of Karnatak
