Abstract
The case describes broad decision problems, research objectives, a two phase research plan, and details of each phase of research about a stores item (V belts) used by industrial units. The sampling plan and data collection approach/instrument used in each phase of the study are also described. A preliminary questionnaire, its pretest results, and a revised final questionnaire for the second phase are also included. The case can be used for 1) sharper definition/prioritization of decision areas and research objectives/areas, 2) specification of information needs, 3) evaluating the two phase research plan 4) questionnaire construction, including pretesting, 5) evaluation of sampling plan, and 6) preparing a preliminary plan for data analysis.
