Abstract
This case is a part of series of cases which deal with entire process of doing marketing research. Each case in the series describes sequentially different stages in a typical marketing research project. Case (A) is on problem definition which is a first stage in marketing research project. A group of MBA students are approached by a leading film producing house in Mumbai to undertake research to examine the effectiveness of product placements. Group members need to formulate the decision problem and the research problems. For each research problem, they have to identify the corresponding information needs and specify variables.
