Abstract
Deals with the problems associated with the introduction of five widebody Airbuses to replace a fleet of Turbo Props and Caravelles. As it is essential to synchronize the publicity campaign with the formal introduction of the Airbus, the management wants to know when the five aircraft will be ready for commercial operations. The case helps to demonstrate the applicability of techniques like PERT/CPM for management of complex projects. Related problems associated with the management of such complex projects, like formulation of project tasks and their sequential precedence, and determination of resource requirement, can be identified.
