Abstract
The Indian field organization of an international voluntary agency has proposed a rural development project for providing assistance. The objectives of the field organization and the parent organization seem to clash, bringing out relevant issues regarding the interpretation of objectives of rural development, tailoring of the programme in view of the environmental specifics, choice of technique.
