This is an introductory case in short?term demand forecasting. The Transformer Manufacturers Association wants to refute the conclusion of the Reserve Bank of India on the impact of the recession on their industry. This would requires a forecast on how their production will be affected in the near future as well as that of the recession. Apart form graphical analyses which can be used to identify a leading indicator for forecasting transformer production a simple regression model may also be set up for forecasting purposes. The student will be expected to estimate a predicting equation using the data given on addition to installed generating capacity.
