Abstract
The case highlights the Tata Group’s innovation journey—a story of transformation, resilience, and reinvention. It covers the various innovation-focused initiatives launched between 2006 and 2017 and maps the journey of Tata InnoVerse, an innovation programme. It tracks the leadership teams’ decision-making efforts in the context of internal changes as well as external challenges. It concludes with the dilemma that the leadership team of InnoVerse faced as they strived to transform the innovation ecosystem within the Tata Group. This case highlights the importance of institutionalising innovation in conglomerates in emerging markets.
