Abstract
Some concepts which form an important part of the forestry jargon have been explained. These include afforestation and reforestation, pure and mixed plantations, normal and abnormal forests, conservation and production forestry, social forestry, upset price, and major and minor forest products. In the context of these working concepts, the note raises some economic and management issues related to the forestry resource in India.
