Abstract
Statistics consist of two parts: descriptive and inferential. Knowledge of some basic statistical concepts is a prerequisite for developing deep into the theory of statistical inference and econometric analysis. Concepts like population vs. sample, parameters vs. statistics, and frequency distribution vs. probability distribution are brought out.
