Abstract

A social system constitutes the interaction of a plurality of individuals whose relations are patterned after a set of norms and expectations. When a system is analysed, the elements which make it a system and the processes which help the system to persist have to be taken into consideration. There are processes which affect the relations between the elements over the years. These social processes may be classified under two categories: 1) the specialized elemental processes which link the separate elements, and 2) the comprehensive or master process which links several or all of the elements. The elements and processes constitute the working components of the social system; some components are only partly structured.
