Abstract
The case describes the journey of Raymond Group, an Indian family business group. The case focuses on the dispute between Vijaypat Singhania and his son, Gautam Singhania, over a “housing agreement”. The case has been prepared using data only from secondary sources. Therefore, it is information rich and narrates both sides of the story. The case provides an opportunity to discuss “family feuds” and their reasons, and the dilemma of “family first” or “business first” in a big business family. The case offers interesting insights into the overlap of family, business and ownership dimensions in a family business. It ends with the speculation of whether such disputes could ever be settled.
