The note offers a fairly comprehensive and descriptive account of the industrial recession through which Indian industry passed during 1966-88. The main industries whose experience is included in the note are engineering, chemical, raw materials and finished products. The note was used as part of the analysis relating to economic growth and the experience of the recession in India. The student were asked to find out the probable factors causing the recession.
