Abstract
A large diversified industrial organization whose main business is in textiles considers a proposal to acquire a "sick" textile mill in Ahmedabad. Financial data has been provided about the sick mill, and the case includes two reports submitted to top management on the merits of the proposal, one by an outside consultant and the other by one of the companys own officers. The Managing Director of the company has to make the decision on the basis of the facts, including the merits of these two reports.
