Abstract
This case opens by highlighting the problems of current land use in a hot arid region. Tree plantation activity is considered as one alternative to annual crops. Five tree species adaptable to the hot arid area region have been identified. Relevant data on the costs of and returns from the proposed alternative have been provided. The essential issue is whether the project meets these tests.
