Abstract
A manager of a medium?sized engineering factory was faced with the problem of retrenching two hundred and seventy?five production workers. The case describes the process of retrenchment, which, though, of great material advantage to the company, raises some questions about professional ethics, as well as the long?term consequences of the action taken.
