Police and Policing in India - voices of officers

* Required Fields

Abstract

The case provides an opportunity to discuss the state of policing as a service in India. It contains a short review of key reports that have been brought out over the years on reforms needed in policing in India to make police a force that is responsive to the needs of the society. The reforms have clearly not worked as police continues to be feared rather that trusted by people. The answers to why reforms have failed partially lie in the narration of over 60 officers contained in the case about their career graph and what they did in their over two decades of service.. The case can also be used to discuss in general service organizations.
