Abstract
Based on a long-felt need the People's Bank was reorganized. One of the major changes was the creation of a full-fledged department of personnel/industrial relations. Although there were technically qualified persons already on the rolls of the bank to head this department, an outsider with several years banking experience was appointed. The case describes the measures he took to streamline the department and the reactions of the staff and officers to them.
