Abstract
National rural health mission was launched in 2005 by Government of India to look after the needs of the underserved population. The main focus of the mission is on creating and establishing a fully functional, decentralized health care delivery system throughout the country with more commitment by the states. The mission is active throughout the country, but the main thrust of the programme is on 18 high focus states. The note discusses in detail about the functioning of the national rural health mission.
