Abstract
Dr. Ala Narayana, Director, National Institute of Indian Medical Heritage, Hyderabad (NIIMH), in late 2011, is considering a review of the progress of the institute since its foundation in 1956, in order to develop a strategy and an action plan for the future. The need for this planning was felt since NIIMH was about to occupy its own premises for the first time in its history, and the mood was one of a ?new beginning.' The Director has to keep in mind the mandate of the institute, recent developments like a greater emphasis on digitization, and the support extended by the Department of AYUSH, Government of India since 2008, which had led to significant research and publication in the institute.
