Abstract
The study aims at describing the general method of national forecasting followed by official agencies of developed countries. It discusses the procedures of forecasting through two methods, viz. successive approximation method and the method of simultaneous solution of equations in connection with econometric models. Finally, it compares the approaches followed in India with those of the developed countries for forecasting.
