This note reviews the developments in the field of multiple?criteria decision-making (MCDM) together with developments in related areas such as utility theory and decision theory. Multiple criteria problems and basic approaches to solve these problems are mentioned. Direct estimation approach and interactive approach for estimating decision?makers' preferences are discussed. Concepts and developments in the areas of utility theory, theory of risky choice, behavioural decision theory, multi?attribute utility theory and decision theory are discussed.
