Abstract
As a model of market structure Chamberlain's theory of monopolistic competition is quite complicated. For understanding the real world situation of manufacturing industries, however, it is much more useful than the model of perfect competition. This note elaborates the meaning and unique characteristics of monopolistic competition and discusses the nature and condition of equilibrium of a firm operating uncurl the situation of monopolistic competitions
