Abstract
Deals with a hot arid region where a shift in land use from annual to tree crops could be advantageous to the individual land owners and to the community as a whole. Six tree species suitable for the region have been identified. Grasses are also proposed to be raised in association with four out of the six tree species. An area of 10,000 hectares has been earmarked to implement the project on an experimental basis. A corporation consisting of land owners as shareholders has been conceived. The chief executive of the corporation is faced with the problem of phasing the project over the 10,000 hectares. His main concern is effective and efficient implementation of the project, and he is wondering whether the network techniques can help him.
