Abstract
This article provides a strategic overview of essential elements of marketing communication and communication planning. The starting point for to any marketing communication is its objective accordingly this article first discusses various objectives of a communication plan. Next it elaborates on various media vehicles that are available for the purpose of communication. Subsequently, the process of communication planning is explained and its various components discussed. This article may be useful for participants in courses related to marketing communication. It may be also useful for practitioners and act as a guide in developing an effective marketing communication plan.
