Case (A) describes the evolution of a familyowned business over fortyseven years, from paper trading to a multibusiness organization. The group, managed by three generations of a family, now faces either stagnation or entry into new and unknown fields. The case provides an opportunity to identify and evaluate the business strategies of the group in the past and suggest strategic shifts for the future.
