Abstract
The Vijayanagar plant of the JSW Steel Limited was all set for increasing its hot metal capacity from 3.8mtpa (million tons per annum) in 2008 to 6.8mtpa in early 2009, and to 9.8mtpa in April 2010. The case examines the inbound and outbound logistics at all the three stages with a focus on increased rail share that Mr U G Pawar, Vice President, Logistics is concerned about. Interfacing with railways would be a critical element in finalizing his strategy.
