Abstract
The case delineates a scenario in which the chief information officer (CIO) of a manufacturing company must prioritise IT applications. There are a total of 15 applications, each with associated costs, durations and risk profiles. These applications are intended to support various functions and processes within the organisation. However, their selection is constrained by insufficient funds and resources, preventing the simultaneous implementation of all applications. These applications should be prioritised on the basis of factors such as the risk, the return profile, the nature of the applications and the beneficiaries within the organisation.
