Abstract
This case is an application of linear programming with a transportation model structure. The objective is to arrive at an iron ore distribution plan between the sources of iron ore and the various steel plants of SAIL. Quality requirements in terms of satisfying the blast furnace specifications have also to be considered. Further, the implementation aspect of transporting the ore through railways with consistent linkages has to be kept in mind.
