Abstract
This case examines Integro Finserv, a Reserve Bank of India–regulated nonbanking financial company (NBFC) specialising in acquiring and resolving distressed retail assets in India. Integro combines financial underwriting, technology-driven collections and litigation-based recovery to build a data-centric stressed-asset platform. By early 2026, it had achieved significant growth through multiple retail nonperforming asset (NPA) acquisitions, improving its profitability, regulatory credibility and access to financing. Its focus on retail NPAs acquired from reputable sources and analytics-led legal enforcement differentiate it in a rapidly evolving market. However, growth also brings significant risks, including valuation uncertainty, legal delays and operational complexity. The case enables students to evaluate distressed-asset economics, capital structure decisions, valuation challenges and strategic trade-offs between expansion and selectivity.
