Abstract

The Institute of Skill Development and Training (ISDT) was established in 2009 by a Nashik based entrepreneur, Yogesh Kothari. ISDT started as a two-person operation in 2009, and has now grown into a 32-employee operation with presence in 18 states in India. ISDT provides training to opticians to improve their eye testing services. Majority of the students at ISDT are from rural areas in India. All the ISDT programmes help in generating employment for the participants. The case focusses on evaluating the profitability and long-term sustainability of the programmes offered by ISDT by applying an Activity Based Costing approach.
