Abstract
The note highlights several personal, emotional and environmental factors that are the cause of a high rate of industrial accidents. It points out that to prevent accidents, more emphasis should be placed on the selection of the "right" person, on education and training, and on job satisfaction. The note argues that trade unions, in addition to management, have a very important role to play in curbing the high rate of industrial accidents.
