Abstract
Deals with the Graduate Engineer Training Scheme in TELCO's factory. The scheme started in 1967, was expected to supply bright and capable engineers to the new plant being set up. The scheme ran into several difficulties and had to be modified substantially between 1971 and 1974. Despite the modifications, the company was not satisfied with the results of the scheme, up to September 1974. Case (A) P&IR0031(A) describes the developments up to 1974 and the problem areas requiring management attention. Case (B) gives the suggestions made by the Manpower Planning Officer to overcome the problems identified in Part (A). This case can, therefore, be used for evaluating the working of a companywide scheme for training officers, and for highlighting various areas that require decisions at the top management level.
