Abstract
Girish Pai, a passionate entrepreneur, wanted to enter India’s booming food and beverage (F&B) sector in the post-COVID period. He had the scars of previous start-ups, solid credentials, a network to leverage and INR 4 crore to invest. He wanted to build GrowthFalcons as a platform-based business but was unsure of the exact business model. Should he solve the supply-side or demand-side pain points of the online food delivery ecosystem? Should he build his own brand or plug into existing platforms? Should he go solo or partner with another direct-to-consumer (D2C) company? Two intense meetings had raised more questions than answers. The third crucial meeting was approaching. This time, he had to decide on the exact platform-based business model.
