Abstract

Goodness of fit tests is a statistical technique used to ascertain whether a given sample originates from a particular distribution (or population). There are different kinds of goodness of fit tests based on the context of study and the population of interest. This technical note discusses two of the most commonly used goodness of fit tests, dealing with Multinomial and Poisson population. For each, examples are shown to illustrate the methodology.
