Abstract
Gambhirpura Collective Farming Society was formed in 1953. Within two years, the society ran into problems. In the general body meeting, the Chairman listed the problems faced by the society and stated that the members could improve their economic conditions if they could identify an operational solution to involve all the members in managing the agricultural operations. In the exhibit the growth of the society in terms of business investment, profit, etc. is given. Students are expected to discuss and formulate views as to how the farmers could have achieved this growth. After the discussion the key is supplied which shows that the society found a solution to the problems by forming small homogenous groups. The society took up the function of overall planning procuring inputs and marketing produce and left the other tasks to the small groups. Within a period of ten years the society doubled the area irrigated, income, etc.
