Abstract
This case is based on a situation in Sri Lanka during 1973 where the government wanted to increase the procurement price of paddy from Rs?18 to Rs?25 per bushel. The questions raised are: 1) Could the increased procurement prices of paddy increase the supply? 2) What would be the impact of the increased procurement price on consumer price of rice? 3) The basis for fixing paddy procurement price.
