Abstract
The Atomic Energy Commission was considering the feasibility of establishing a plant for preserving onion through radiation. It was proposed that this plant would be established in Nasik district of Maharashtra. A feasibility study was prepared considering the production and making pattern of onions and the storage loss during different months. The feasibility study incorporated the gains on account of radiation. The economics of radiation and other considerations in establishing a plant are discussed in the case.
