Abstract
On April 15, 2009, Rajat Goel and Dr Ajay Sharma, the co-founders of Eye-Q hospitals, a super-specialty chain of eye care hospitals in north India, were reviewing their current business model of providing quality eye care at affordable prices in Tier II and Tier III cities. They had thought their business model would be successful from the beginning as there was a clear need in their target markets. However, even after two years of operation, they did not achieve the breakeven. They encountered various challenges in executing the business model. Now, they were contemplating the modifications required to make the current model successful.
