Abstract
Though philanthropic activities are age old, in recent times, private service institutions have been acknowledged, both, by the people and the state, for the service they render. However, the accountability of such institutions is yet to be explored, from a service point of view. Though it will not add directly to the economy, it will provide satisfaction and value to the people. Besides, this will not only help in popularizing services among the masses but will also provide an alternative service system. The case examines one of the public services, provided at the Maharani Shanta Devi Trust run hospital at Vadodara, and explores the pros and cons of the services, thereby opening an avenue of alternative delivery system for providing public health services.
