Abstract
Provides an outline of the broad methodology adopted by the Central Statistical Organization for estimation of India's national income by industry of origin. It also examines the trends in the distribution of net domestic product in India by industry of origin during the period 195051 to 197273 and compares the same with the corresponding trends observed in some of the advanced countries. In doing so, it examines and tests empirically the hypothesis of growth and structural change in a developing economy.
