Abstract
Illustrates the use of the multiple activity chart for balancing the activities of multiple machines. The example involves dumpers and a shovel used in the construction of a parking lot. The chart is similarly useful for balancing the activities of multiple men and machines in a man?machine operating system. By focusing on minimization of idle time, the chart is a device useful for maximization of productivity of such systems.
