Abstract

This case describes the DHL (Express) division of Airfreight Limited and its attempt in nurturing the Indian air express market. Towards the end of 1997, due to changes in the market, the company was facing some major choices. These were (I) how to run the two segments of business, namely, the domestic and the international? (ii) what should be the thrust, documents or packages? (iii) what should be the response to the recent moves by the competitors, namely, Blue Dart and Elbee and to the recent direct entry of global giants Federal Express and TNT? and (iv) what should be the future relationship between AFL and DHL Worldwide Express?
