Abstract
The concept of self in terms of its unfolding and developing from birth as conceptualised by Theodore Sarabin is discussed. Personality of the self is described in terms of structure and process. Sarabin postulates five sub-structures that are basic to the growth and development of the individual during the first two years of life. The developmental approach provides a time?oriented perspective to the personality theory. It is concerned with the universal sequence or stages through which a personality evolves from birth to adulthood and beyond.
