Abstract
Consumer incentives play an important part in sales promotion. They are primarily intended to boost the sales of the product or service in question. Consumer premium is probably the most important incentive technique. There are direct consumer premiums and conditional consumer premiums. Refill packs, deferred payment schemes and guarantee for refund are some of the other incentive schemes. All forms of consumer promotion schemes may not be equally successful. Their applicability and effectiveness vary under different conditions.
