Abstract
Categorical data analysis constitute a major branch of Statistics and deals with analyzing, quantifying and interpreting dependence patterns between categorical variables i.e. variables whose observations belong to any one of a set of categories. In this module, we will go over some of the common techniques of evaluating the strength and direction of dependence between these variables like Pearson’s Chi-square test, Odds ratios, Relative risks, Yule’s Q statistic etc. Each technique will be illustrated through examples.
