Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital(BIACHospital) is a comprehensive non-profit cancer care centre equipped with the latest facilities for diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancers.The surgical oncology department formed the backbone of the comprehensive cancer care of the patient that the hospital offered in a structured coordinated multidisciplinary approach.About 500 surgical procedures were performed every month consisting of 100 minor procedures and 400 major surgeries across six Operating theatres, consisting of three Laparoscopic (Lap) OTs and three Non-Lap OTs. Post -surgery intensive care was offered in well-equipped ICUs under the care of the anesthesiology department. The hospital management is wondering if the OT resources could be managed more effectively and efficiently, given that three more OTs would be functional within one year.
