Abstract
India, the second largest country in Asia, and the seventh largest country in the world, has a coastline stretching over 7000 km. However, sea transportation has not received much attention of the policy makers. Port development and management are very critical concerns for facilitating international trade and thereby the national economic development. This case study looks at the logistics planning for handling container traffic at Indian ports.
