Abstract
This note summarizes the main elements of formal organizations such as personality, norms, value, status, role authority and power, and culture; discusses the operational aspects of the structural variables, and brings out the fundamental organizational processes such as institutionalization, socialization, and boundary maintenance; deals with the relation between an organization and its environment; and briefly discusses the importance of technology for the social system of an organization.
