Abstract
A distant cousin of several executives in Arjun Manufacturing writes to the brother of the Vice President asking him to help "one of his own" to get promotion and an increase in salary. The letter is forwarded to the Vice President, who obtains the comments of Arjun's personnel manager and sales manager (who is a first cousin). The case works well as an introduction to social system analysis.
