Abstract
This note deals with the following questions: (a) Why technological, particularly biological, innovations are needed in agriculture? (b) What contributions does technology make to growth in agricultural productivity? What public investment is needed to develop new technology? (c) How do these contributions of technology compare with the contributions of extending already available technology and that of other types of intervention?
